ABOUT
Amira Kanianthra is the owner of Beaverton Physiotherapy, which opened in 2013. Amira is a physiotherapist who trained in Australia at the University of Queensland. After completing her Masters degree, she worked in several different private practices including gyms and Pilates studios.
Amira returned to Canada in 2012 and was working in Sutton when she recognized the Township of Brock could benefit from a local physiotherapy clinic was a location that was lacking physiotherapy. Having worked in a small community for several years, she fell in love with the small-town appeal. She worked with the township and was able to set up shop in January 2013 as Beaverton Physiotherapy.
Since then, Beaverton Physiotherapy remains committed to serving the community. We believe in going the extra mile. We have a very dynamic team with a variety of strengths and complementary skill sets. The unique experience and passion that each professional brings to the table allows us to treat a variety of pathologies. We all share a common goal to help each individual reach their highest potential in health. As a result, our staff is continually taking courses in their areas of interest to keep up with the latest research and clinical techniques.
OUR MISSION
We are passionate about making a difference in our client’s lives, making it our priority to understand our clients’ injuries and needs so we can assist them with reaching their short and long term goals.

ConnectTherapy
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist
Amira Kanianthra completed her Masters in Physiotherapy and graduated in 2009. Prior to this, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (the study of movement of the body).
Having been seriously ill as a child, Amira had the opportunity to become familiar with the world of health. She believes her positive experience as a child drew her to a career in health as she too, wanted to make a positive difference in other people’s lives. Being a natural “hands-on” therapist, learning physiotherapy seemed like a perfect fit for her.
Amira is trained in ConnectTherapy, a holistic approach to assessment and treatment. ConnectTherapy focuses on each individual’s meaningful task or goal. This approach to treatment and assessment allows her to customize each client’s treatment to suit their needs and goals.
Amira is passionate about what she does and describes her work to be similar to a 'detective'. Finding the cause of the client’s symptoms, pain or limitations. She reports that no two cases or people are ever the same. She is especially interested in the way clients move and function post-injury and how to improve their movement patterns through a mix of hands-on therapy and exercise.
Amira is a constant learner, and has completed her pelvic floor training. Stay tuned for more post and blogs regarding this and many other topics when you follow us at Beaverton Physiotherapy on Facebook and on Instagram at beaverton_physiotherapy
